Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Piano Theory mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Description of Service

Piano Theory is an educational mobile application designed to help users learn piano music theory through interactive quizzes. The App includes:

• Interactive piano keyboard interface
• Music theory quizzes (notes, scales, chords, modes)
• Progress tracking and performance records
• Optional MIDI keyboard connectivity
• Optional premium subscription features

License to Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use.

User Conduct

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

• Modify, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to circumvent any security features or payment systems
• Use the App to distribute malware or harmful content
• Share your subscription access with unauthorized users

Subscriptions and Purchases

In-App Purchases

• Premium features are available through subscription purchases
• Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store
• Prices are displayed in the App and may vary by region
• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account

Subscription Terms

• Monthly Subscription: Automatically renews every month
• Yearly Subscription: Automatically renews every year
• Lifetime Purchase: One-time payment with no recurring charges

Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings

Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds will be provided for partial subscription periods

Free Trial

• If offered, free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless canceled before the trial ends
• You must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid charges

Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App, including but not limited to:

• Software code and architecture
• User interface design and graphics
• Audio samples and sound recordings
• Educational content and quiz materials
• Trademarks and branding

are owned by Piano Theory and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

User-Generated Data

• Your quiz scores, progress, and settings are stored locally on your device
• You retain ownership of your personal data
• We do not claim ownership of your practice records or achievements
• By using the App, you grant us the right to collect anonymized usage analytics to improve the service

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Guarantees of uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Accuracy or completeness of content

We do not guarantee that:

• The App will meet your specific requirements
• The App will be available at all times without interruption
• All bugs or errors will be corrected
• The App will be compatible with all devices or operating systems

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PIANO THEORY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• Device damage resulting from App use
• Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for the App in the past 12 months

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

• Apple App Store and StoreKit
• RevenueCat (subscription management)
• PostHog (analytics)
• Sentry (error tracking)
• MIDI device connectivity

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for third-party service failures or changes.

Updates and Modifications

We reserve the right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App at any time
• Update these Terms of Use with notice provided through the App or website
• Change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers
• Release updates that may require the latest version of iOS

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if you:

• Violate these Terms of Use
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Attempt to abuse or exploit the App's features
• Use the App in ways that harm other users or our systems

Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.

Educational Purpose

Piano Theory is designed as an educational tool to supplement music learning. While we strive for accuracy in all educational content:

• The App is not a substitute for formal music instruction
• We make no guarantees about learning outcomes
• Individual results may vary based on practice and dedication

Age Requirements

The App is suitable for users of all ages. Users under 13 should use the App under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Geographic Restrictions

The App is available worldwide where the Apple App Store operates. Some features may not be available in all regions due to technical or legal restrictions.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where Piano Theory operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the App should first be addressed by contacting our support team. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable laws.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Piano Theory regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
